What actually fails on the Altima, and what we do about it

The Altima's Jatco CVT8 wears at the belt and the pulley faces, which is what produces the shudder between 25 and 45 mph. Once those surfaces are worn there is no partial fix that holds, which is why we fit a new unit rather than rebuild the one you have. Before we go anywhere near that, the free diagnostic checks whether the fault is even inside the transmission. Cooler lines, sensors, wiring and fluid condition are all cheaper answers, and we would rather find one of those. We will also help you check whether any remaining CVT warranty or settlement coverage applies to your car first.

Worst-case rebuild, and they had it done in a day and a half. The guys worked late and came in early to get me back on the road.
