Classic car automatics, rebuilt or converted.

Powerglide, TH350, TH400, Ford C4 and C6, Chrysler Torqueflite 727. The automatics that came in 1950s to 1970s American cars are their own discipline, and it is one this shop still takes on. Tell us what the car is and what you want out of it.

Original units, rebuilt to period spec

Powerglide, TH350, TH400, Ford C4, Ford C6, Chrysler 727

When the car should keep the transmission it left the factory with, we rebuild the original unit rather than replace it. Original case, correct internals, and a shift feel that suits the car instead of a modern calibration. A numbers matching drivetrain stays numbers matching.

Modern overdrive conversions

700R4, 4L60E, 4L80E

A three-speed behind a short rear gear means the engine is working hard at freeway speed, and the car gets loud, thirsty and tiring on a long drive. An overdrive automatic drops the cruise rpm and makes the car usable again. We handle what the swap actually needs: crossmember, driveshaft length, speedometer drive, kickdown or throttle valve linkage, and a controller for the electronic units.

High-torque and restomod builds

TH400, 700R4, 4L80E, Chrysler 727

A stroker, a blower or a modern crate engine puts torque through the transmission that the stock clutch pack was never asked to hold. We build to the power level: more clutch capacity, a converter matched to the cam and the rear gear, and a valve body set up for the shift you want, from a firm street shift to a full manual.

Tell us the year, the engine, the rear axle gear, and how you actually drive the car. That is what decides whether the right answer is a period rebuild or an overdrive behind it.
