Some Common Indicators Your Transmission Needs Attention

driving with a bad automatic transmission to fix

Sometimes, a telling indicator your car needs service is based on feelings. As an owner or regular driver of your specific vehicle, you know the little quirks and behaviors when you drive it. You know what sounds normal, what feels right, and more importantly, what doesn’t when things go wrong.

You don’t have to be a car expert to keep your car in great condition.

This also holds true for your automatic transmission. A transmission can shift dozens, if not hundreds of times per trip. Pay attention to those shifts. Erratic, delayed, or harder shifting when accelerating is usually the first indicator something is wrong. The good news is that a good fluid flush and inspection performed by All Automatic Transmission is probably all you need to fix the problem.

Signs that something’s wrong.

Slippage is also a common sign your car needs attention. If you find your engine RPM’s going up, but your speedometer isn’t, it means your transmission isn’t getting that engine power to the wheels. This could indicate a more serious problem.

Lastly, issues like grinding and squealing can mean severe transmission damage. If you hear these noises, pull over immediately and check your car’s transmission fluid level. If the fluid level is low, dark colored, or you notice any leaking, bring the car in to us ASAP before the problem gets worse.

Take care of your car, and it’ll take care of you.

If you’re not sure or can’t remember the last time you serviced your transmission, it’s probably a good idea to schedule a fluid change or flush the system entirely. Remember, we’re here to answer any transmission questions you have so if you’re not sure about what feels right in your car, we’ll figure it out and get you back on the road in no time.
