YouTube Mechanic ChrisFix has a great video on the complexities behind Automatics, and how even changing the fluid yourself on a car with damaged clutch packs or worn fluid can cause transmission slippage:

The video also offers a good overview on how to check the transmission fluid level for most cars and what good fluid looks like around the 1:30 mark, but later shows that cars with sealed transmissions won’t have an easy way to check this fluid level.
